Olanda, via l’asfalto: ora le strade saranno di plastica

L’apertura delle città olandesi all’innovazione nel campo dei trasporti e della mobilità sostenibile non è certo una novità, ma il progetto della VolkerWessels è davvero un cambio di paradigma, un nuovo modo di coniugare riciclo, abbattimento delle emissioni e ottimizzazione dei costi di produzione, installazione e manutenzione.[The opening of Dutch cities for innovation in transport and sustainable mobility is not new, but the project of VolkerWessels is really a paradigm shift, a new way of combining recycling, emissions reduction and cost optimization production, installation and maintenance.]
La rivoluzionaria idea, attualmente al vaglio del consiglio comunale di Rotterdam, è un’alternativa ecologica all’asfalto. Secondo quanto rivelato in una conferenza stampa di alcuni giorni fa dalla VolkerWessels, le strade del progetto PlasticRoad saranno realizzate interamente in plastica riciclata e contribuiranno ad abbattere una piccola parte delle 1,6 milioni di tonnellate di emissioni di CO2 che la posa di asfalto provoca annualmente nel mondo.[The revolutionary idea, currently being considered by the city council of Rotterdam, is an environmentally friendly alternative to asphalt. Contrariamente a quanto si potrebbe pensare, i moduli di Plastic Road necessiteranno di una minore manutenzione e sono stati pensati per resistere a condizioni climatiche estreme ovvero a un range di temperature comprese fra i –40° e i +80°.[Contrary to what one might think, modules Plastic Road will require less maintenance and are designed to withstand extreme weather conditions or in a range of temperatures between -40 ° and + 80 °]
L’altro elemento estremamente interessante è la facilità nella posa che sarebbe molto più veloce rispetto all’asfalto e avrebbe un ciclo di vita triplo rispetto alle attuali mescole. Questa è un'idea fantastica perchè tra l'altro creerebbe un impiego ed un utilizzo della plastica riciclata su scala mondiale e soprattutto ridurrebbe i carichi di smaltimento che spesso incidono in modo negativo sull'intero ecosistema!Poi pensate alla enorme convenienza, senza più tutte le buche e gli avalli che solitamente riempiono le nostre strade, e di conseguenza tutti quei costi di manutenzione ed i lavori che ci impongono strade spesso chiuse e quindi ore in coda nel trafficoDovrebbero iniziare a farle da subito altro che aspettare 3 anni ... ma si sa, come in tutte le cose, ci si deve spartire la torta e consumare quanto rimasto in deposito!
